Love City Excursions is owned and operated by Joe and Katie Zachary. Joe and Katie have lived on Saint John in Love City for over thirteen and fourteen years, respectively.
Joe and Katie are both US Coast Guard 100 ton licensed captains and have worked in the US and British Virgin islands on various charter boats for over 18 years combined. After a short stint back stateside in 2013, they decided to move back to Saint John and pursue opening their own charter boat business on the little island they love. After finding the perfect boat in their 33 foot World Cat, Love City Excursions was born!
And January 2019 they welcomed Jackson to the crew!
Meet Your Captains
Joseph Zachary
Joe Zachary is originally from Nashville Tennesee, a proud graduate of the University of Tennessee, and grew up loving the water; spending time kayaking, river rafting, and generally enjoying the outdoors. Joe moved to Saint John 8 years ago with the dream of spending his time scuba diving, and quickly realized he loved sailing and day chartering. Joe has been captaining larger vessels in the USVI and BVI for the past four years, with a short stint captaining in Charleston, SC. He is currently our full time captain and loves helping our guests have the best day of their vacation!
Katie Zachary
Katie is originally from Colorado but grew up with a distinct love for the water, spending vacations in the Caribbean and Hawaii and lifeguarding and teaching swimming lessons throughout high school and college. After graduating from Colorado State University in 2006, she moved to Saint John and first worked at Maho Bay Campground before finally settling, happily, into working on the water. With 11 years of experience in the USVI and BVI waters, Katie is sure to find you a perfect day, no matter your needs. You will find her most commonly as the voice behind almost all communications for the company, and she also works full time as a licensed real estate agent with Holiday Homes of St. John.
Abbie Martin
In 2015 Abbie moved to the USVI and found her home on St. John.
Working at Cinnamon Bay Water Sports she fell in love with the ocean and found a new passion for sailing and being out on the water. Abbie then spent 4 years working term charters on various vessels both in the USVI and the BVI. From deckhand on the world largest chartable sailing trimaran, first mate on a 100ft motor yacht, to chef on a 51ft Neel Trimaran. Abbie not only has her 100 ton masters license, but is an advance diver and is known as one of the worlds jaguar specialist (ask her about these big cats)! Abbie is also a zoologist who after graduation from Ohio Wesleyan University in 2013, has spent the last 10 years studying wild jaguars in the Brazilian Pantanal, the world’s largest wetland. In 2015 she created a non-profit called the Jaguar Identification Project, in inspiration to add value to Americas largest and most sacred feline. She loves being outdoors and talking about the marvels of the natural world, whether that is about St. John’s history, plants and wildlife found on island, or interesting big cat facts.
