Facts about St. John, USVI

National Park

Saint John, USVI is is approximately 65% National Park and the majority of her waters are considered National Monuments, thanks to Laurence Rockefeller’s land donation in the 1950’s.  This has kept the island relatively un-spoilt and provided us with a resource for great hiking trails, and well kept beaches.

Keep Left

We drive on the left in the Virgin Islands, and while that may sound intimidating, these islands were built for driving on the left so it really makes sense once you do it a few times! Keep left, and if all else fails, go slow!

Topography

Saint John, USVI is quite hilly, and encompasses about 19 Square miles. The highest elevation is 1,277 feet up at Bordeaux Mountain where you can feel the increase in altitude with the slight dip in temperature and tendency for higher rainfall.

Love City

Saint John’s nickname is “Love City,” (hence, Love City Excursions,) a reflection of the people, the island, and the way of life that makes this little rock so special to so many.
